Job Description

Turner and Townsend is one of the leading consultancy providers to the Energy and Natural Resources sector, we are looking to recruit a Logistics Project Manager to undertake a key role on a high profile, South West based Energy Infrastructure project.

The Logistics Assistant Project Manager is responsible for management of material and equipment logistics as part of a Project Team, ensuring the smooth flow of materials from their arrival at various warehouses across the South West to the construction site. This role involves seamless coordination of material deliveries, aligning distribution activities with project timelines, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. The role plays a part in driving operational efficiency and streamlining material delivery processes, which are essential for meeting construction milestones and effectively allocating resources.

Key responsibilities:

  • Distribution Strategy: Assist the Project Team to oversee and optimize the material distribution strategy.
  • Coordination: Assist the Project Team to seamlessly coordination of material deliveries to designated areas within with construction site.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain safety and compliance standards in logistics operations.
  • Operational Efficiency: Drive operational efficiency and streamline material delivery processes. This could involve taking specific actions as part of a process improvement team, or managing process improvement projects with a degree of autonomy.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor performance and compliance of the 3rd Party Logistics organisations, and maintaining accurate project reporting to facilitate decision making.
  • Issue Resolution: Address logistical challenges, manage escalations, and provide strategic guidance.

What are the key skills we look for?

  • Logistics Management: Experience in logistics management within construction or similar large-scale projects, or experience working in a Project Management team on projects which have logistics challenges.
  • Supply Chain Operations: Preferably some experience working with suppliers, and as part of a team managing suppliers.
  • Compliance: Understanding of the importance of safety and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate complex issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time management skills.

Qualifications

  • Recognised qualifications in project or business management, or industry experience in a construction or energy related subject
  • Ideally Logistics Expertise in a complex highly regulated industry, or project experience containing some logistics challenge.
