Job Overview

Deliver exciting, innovative flood risk projects in SW England. In this Assistant Project Manager role, you will either assist Project Managers in medium-high risk projects or manage your own lower risk projects within our integrated project teams.

This role sits within our Project and Programme Delivery Team, leading flood risk management projects to reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment. You will be involved in the entire project life cycle—from initial strategic planning through to detailed design and construction.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Managers on delivery of medium-high risk projects or manage smaller, lower risk projects.
  • Develop skills in project, commercial, contract and risk management.
  • Conduct data management and research flood risk areas.
  • Set up new projects and use systems and processes to manage projects.
  • Attend site visits and public exhibition meetings.
  • Apply EA legislation, policy and guidance to deliver benefits for communities and the environment.
  • Participate in incident response duties when required.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Essential:
  • Appropriate qualification or experience in a relevant discipline (engineering or geography).
  • Experience working in a project environment.
  • Analytical skills, including finance and data handling.
  • Experience of project report writing.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills in a stakeholder-facing capacity.
  • Working to deadlines and task prioritisation.
  • Driving licence required, or means of accessing remote project sites.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience in engineering, construction, or flood and coastal risk management projects.
  • Experience managing contracts.
  • Project management qualification (e.g., Prince2, APM).

Working Conditions

Based at one of our South West offices with co-location at your base office at least 2 days per week plus visits to site as required. Attend team training days quarterly across the South West hub. Travel to other offices and overnight stays may be required.
