Overview

Imaginate and Merchant City Festival are looking to appoint a part-time assistant producer to assist delivery of the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival and Merchant City Festival.

Remuneration, duration and hours

Fee: £17,820 (including holiday pay). This is for a maximum of 110 days in total, with exact days and times to be determined with Imaginate and Merchant City Festival. Terms of employment: Freelance Contract, 1 December 2025 – 2 August 2026 (ideally). December–January: 2 days a week (1 day Imaginate / 1 day MCF). February–July: 4 days a week (2 days Imaginate / 2 days MCF). More days in addition during the weeks of Edinburgh International Children’s Festival and Merchant City Festival. Hours of work: Normal office hours are 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday plus evenings and weekends work when required. Options for flexible working are available.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Producer during the Children’s Festival, specifically the Family Encounters Programme and Family Day Commissions in partnership with MCF, OneRen and Aberdeen Performing Arts.
  • Support the Producer MCF with developing and delivering the Family Days within the festival programme.
  • Assist both Producers in general administrative tasks for the festivals including contracts, finance, space requirements and scheduling.
  • Assist with management and monitoring of the Family Days budget.
  • Assist the Senior Producer at the Children’s Festival and Producer (MCF) in liaising with key partners, co-producers and companies visiting the festival.
  • Liaise and support artists for the Family Day programmes and general festivals.
  • Work with the Festivals’ Production Managers and festival production teams (Children’s and MCF) to ensure there is technical support for events, appropriate equipment, and venue schedules work for the team.
  • Work with Marketing and Communications for both festivals to collate information from companies and artists.
  • Work with the Senior Producer and Festival Production Manager at the Children’s Festival and Producer (MCF) on risk assessments and health and safety regulations.
