An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Practitioner post within the Infection Prevention and Control Team with an NHS Tayside remit, including care homes. We require an Assistant Practitioner with experience and interest in infection prevention and control. The post holder will work with the Infection Prevention and Control Nurses to:

  • Support the surveillance, prevention and control of Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI) and communicable diseases.
  • Support investigation and control of incidents of infection, enhancing the patient\'s care experience.
  • Establish a close working relationship with all healthcare staff, patients and members of the public and provide advice and education on all aspects of infection prevention and control.
  • Contribute to the performance of the team.
  • Contribute to the annual work programme.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s objectives.
  • Be involved in the implementation of infection prevention and control policies, procedures and guidelines throughout NHST.

Qualifications and requirements

Applications are invited from candidates who have an SCQF Level 8 or an SVQ Level 3 qualification. Applicants should also have clinical experience with a broad range of clinical skills and currently be working within the healthcare setting. Candidates must have good interpersonal and communication skills and be committed team players.

The ability to travel across the locality is essential.

You will be required to comply with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland throughout your employment.
