Overview
As Assistant Manager - Operations & Fitness, you play a key hands‑on leadership role within the club. You will work closely with our Operations & Fitness Manager to ensure the gym runs smoothly, looks exceptional, and delivers a high‑quality member experience every day.
Daily Operations & Standards
- Conduct daily floor walks, high‑touchpoint checks, and zone inspections
- Support the execution of opening/closing procedures
- Maintain presentation standards across all gym zones
- Identify issues early and escalate to the Ops & Fitness Manager
- Assist with managing stock (toiletries, cleaning supplies, consumables)
Member Experience & Engagement
- Deliver excellent in‑club engagement – warm, energetic, proactive
- Build relationships with members, provide support, and enhance gym atmosphere
- Role‑model the Anytime Fitness culture: friendly, non‑judgemental, inclusive
- Support follow‑up routines for new joiners (particularly weeks 1‑4)
- Respond to basic member queries on the floor or via email/social platforms
Fitness Support & PT Integration
- Assist in onboarding self‑employed Personal Trainers (tour, intro, expectations)
- Ensure PTs follow standards and integrate well into the club culture
- Support class scheduling and event coverage
- Deliver basic fitness support where qualified (Level 3 desirable)
Cleaning & Contractor Oversight
- Conduct cleaning checks and report shortfalls to the cleaning contractor
- Ensure standards match premium expectations
- Assist with monitoring contractor performance and escalating concerns
Compliance & Safety
- Weekly and monthly H&S routines (legionella, emergency lighting, etc.)
- AF UK operational compliance requirements
- Equipment checks and reporting
Team & Culture Support
- Set the tone on the floor – energy, friendliness, approachability
- Support onboarding of new staff
- Reinforce Project Connect behaviours at all times
- Act as Duty Manager when trained and scheduled
Qualifications & Experience
- Early in your management journey, but ambitious
- Positive, energetic, and naturally great with people
- Comfortable being present and visible on the gym floor
- Reliable, organised, and detail‑focused
- Proactive – you take initiative without waiting to be asked
- A team player who communicates well
- Hungry to grow into bigger roles as the business expands – Level 2 Fitness qualification required
- Level 3 desirable (or actively working toward it)
- Previous gym or member‑facing experience strongly preferred
