A leading social housing organization in Knowsley is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to support financial processes and reporting for the Finance Business Partnering team. Are you passionate about numbers and eager to make a real difference in a team that supports communities across Merseyside and Cheshire? Join Plus Dane as an Assistant Management Accountant and help shape the future of social housing finance.

As Assistant Management Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting the Finance Business Partnering team and the wider Homes Team. You'll help produce financial information for budget holders, assist with month‑end accounts, and contribute to the smooth running of financial processes.

Key responsibilities
  • Prepare and update standard monthly reconciliations.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including journal input and data analysis.
  • Support forecasting and budgeting activities.
  • Manage day‑to‑day financial administration and respond to finance queries.
  • Tailor finance reports to meet business needs and provide a flexible, responsive service.
  • Contribute to the development of finance system capabilities and continuous improvement.
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets, statutory accounts, and regulatory returns.
Minimum requirements
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including mathematics.
  • Good standard of numeracy, literacy, and accuracy.
  • Customer‑focused approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to work flexibly and cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Good IT skills, especially Excel, and ability to quickly learn finance systems.
Desirable
  • AAT qualified or working towards a recognised accounting qualification.
  • Familiarity with double entry bookkeeping and accruals accounting.
  • Commercial focus and awareness of sector and regulatory developments.

Working conditions

This is a permanent role working 35 hours per week. Your main base will be our Albert Dock office in Liverpool with flexibility to work across various locations in the region.
