Sessional Opportunities: Assistant Adult Education Tutors, Adult Education Tutors & Senior Adult Education Tutors (Maths and English)

Contract Type: Sessional
Hours: Flexible / By Agreement

Pay: £13.26, £14.82 or £16.35 depending on the role (plus 14.49% sessional uplift)
Location: Worcestershire (various delivery centres)

Learning Services Worcestershire is expanding its Young Adult Learning team and is recruiting enthusiastic and skilled sessional staff across a range of maths and English roles. These roles support learners aged 16–24 on our Study Programmes, many of whom have experienced disrupted education or face additional challenges.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of meaningful, transformative work with young people who benefit enormously from patient, supportive, high-quality teaching.

About the Roles

We are seeking to appoint:

Assistant Learning Services Tutors (Teaching Assistants) – £13.26 per hour

You will work closely with learners to build confidence, support engagement, and help them develop the personal, social, and academic skills needed to succeed. This role is perfect for people with experience supporting young people, or those eager to take the first steps toward a teaching career.

Learning Services Tutors – £13.69 per hour

You will plan and deliver high-quality maths or English learning programmes, adapting approaches to meet individual needs and helping learners make steady, meaningful progress. You will play a key role in preparing young people for Functional Skills, GCSE pathways, and wider learning.

Senior Tutors – £16.35 per hour

Alongside teaching, you will help lead curriculum planning, contribute to quality assurance, and support less experienced colleagues. This role suits experienced, fully-qualified practitioners ready to shape provision and champion high standards across the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

Depending on the role, your responsibilities may include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging maths or English learning that supports confidence, skill development, and progression
  • Helping young people participate fully in their Study Programmes, including personal development and employability elements
  • Adapting teaching and support to meet a wide range of individual needs
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, support agencies, carers, and other professionals to ensure learners are fully supported
  • Embedding safeguarding, equality of opportunity and Prevent throughout delivery
  • Maintaining accurate learner records and providing constructive feedback
  • Contributing to curriculum development, resource creation, and service improvement activities
  • Offering encouragement, consistency, and a positive learning experience to young people who may need it most
