Are you passionate about supporting families and ensuring the best educational outcomes for children? Join our dedicated and supportive team within Education and Leisure Services as an Assistant Elective Home Education (EHE) Officer.

Responsibilities
  • Support families and learners to provide a sufficient and effective home education, in line with statutory requirements.
  • Advise families on educational practices, resources, and curricula tailored to individual needs.
  • Conduct regular reviews of educational progress, offering constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, social services and partner organisations to coordinate support for home-educated children.
  • Maintain accurate records of all interactions, assessments and progress.
  • Promote the holistic development of children.
  • Participate in team meetings and planning sessions to enhance the effectiveness of the Education Welfare Team.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational trends and policies.
Qualifications
  • A degree in social work, education, or a related field.
  • Experience working in education and with families, including safeguarding and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Welsh Government policies on safeguarding and elective home education.
  • Commitment to the safety and welfare of children, with strong ethical values and integrity.
  • Welsh language level - verbal Level 3 (you will need a good level of conversational Welsh; reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level).
Conditions and Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS check will be required for this job.
  • It is an offence to apply for the role if barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or adults at risk.
