Responsibilities
- Support families and learners to provide a sufficient and effective home education, in line with statutory requirements.
- Advise families on educational practices, resources, and curricula tailored to individual needs.
- Conduct regular reviews of educational progress, offering constructive feedback and guidance.
- Collaborate with local authorities, social services and partner organisations to coordinate support for home-educated children.
- Maintain accurate records of all interactions, assessments and progress.
- Promote the holistic development of children.
- Participate in team meetings and planning sessions to enhance the effectiveness of the Education Welfare Team.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational trends and policies.
Qualifications
- A degree in social work, education, or a related field.
- Experience working in education and with families, including safeguarding and multi-agency collaboration.
- Excellent communication and written skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Welsh Government policies on safeguarding and elective home education.
- Commitment to the safety and welfare of children, with strong ethical values and integrity.
- Welsh language level - verbal Level 3 (you will need a good level of conversational Welsh; reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level).
Conditions and Requirements
- Enhanced DBS check will be required for this job.
- It is an offence to apply for the role if barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children or adults at risk.
