Job Title: Assistant Drainage Engineer

Salary: £28,000 - £33,000

This is a permanent role with Penguin Recruitment acting as a recruitment agency in respect to this vacancy. The role is with a multidisciplinary consultancy providing specialist design services for clients across the engineering and environmental sectors. The successful candidate will join an established team of flood risk and drainage professionals and work on small-, medium-, and large-scale projects in and around Edinburgh, Scotland.

Responsibilities
  • Work on aspects of projects including hydraulic modelling, flood risk, flood estimation, and drainage strategy
  • Contribute to residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments across Scotland and beyond for public and private sector clients
  • Complete flood risk assessments and reports
  • Engage with flood estimation and surface water management plans
  • Design drainage strategies and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Assist with designing access roads
  • Utilise design software packages including Civils 3D, Causeway PDS, InfoDrainage, and AutoCAD
Qualifications
  • Hold a Bachelor's or Master's Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Hydrology, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrable experience in a UK consultancy or local authority setting in a design-based role
  • Extensive experience producing flood risk assessments, flood risk reports, drainage strategies, and drainage design using relevant software
  • Highly proficient in Civils 3D, InfoDrainage, and Causeway Flow
Desirable
  • Local knowledge of the region and its characteristics
  • Full, valid UK driving licence
