Job description

To lead the Housing Executive’s approach to Building Safety and successfully manage a team of specialists to deliver building safety services to the wider organisation. To ensure regular reviews of our overall compliance approach are carried out and taking the lead on building safety work as new regulation and legislation come into being.Building safety services include the fulfilling of our statutory compliance functions (Gas, Electrical, Asbestos, Legionella, Fire etc) and delivering the outputs of the impending Building Safety Bill to our High Risk Residential Buildings.Please see employer website for full job details & person specification.

Responsibilities
  • To lead the development and implementation of building safety strategy and policy for the Housing Executive, ensuring this is fully aligned to government policy and new legislation.
  • To develop and implement the Building Safety Annual Business Plan, ensuring objectives and performance targets are achieved in support of the overall corporate plan.
  • To lead the development and implementation of policies, procedures, working practices and standards that support the delivery of Building Safety objectives and ensure statutory and legislative obligations are met.
  • To ensure the Building Safety delivery model is fit for purpose, that the Housing Executive delivers excellent Building Safety services to tenants and customers and to shape future building safety / compliance services.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Possess a minimum of a degree level qualification (level 6) in a relevant subject e.g. construction, fire safety or built environment.
  • Or demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development through full professional membership of recognised professional body appropriate to role, Royal Institution Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Institute Building, Institution Fire Engineers.
  • Have at least 3 years’ relevant experience at senior management level within construction, fire safety or built environment.
