Mrs. Alice by Alice Naylor-Leyland is redefining how you shop tablescapes, tableware and homeware. The brand launched over Christmas 2019 and has been growing rapidly ever since. Creating monthly seasonal drops, Mrs. Alice is inspiring customers all over the World to dress their homes beautifully.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and ambitious Assistant Buyer to work closely with Alice and her team to help grow the business.

The role will require a highly organised and driven person to work within the team to assist in sourcing and buying among various other activities for the brand and reporting to Senior Buyers.

The successful candidate will relish the challenge of growing an exciting new brand within a small team.

Role responsibilities
  • Working with the Senior Buying team to support them in sourcing & buying the Homeware category across a varied international supply base
  • Working closely with our Merchandising team to lead on coding and sku management within the business
  • Working closely with the Merchandising and Warehouse teams to be responsible for and manage stock intake and accuracy including quality control
  • Take an active role in weekly trade - assisting the Merchandising team in the running and analysis of sales and inventory reports
  • Support the implementation of the business critical path across all functions
  • Develop strong supplier partnerships while leveraging effective negotiation skills
  • Collaborate and communicate seamlessly and proactively with colleagues and cross-functional partners
  • Represents the Buyer in presenting to senior management when required
  • Share the management of the BAA in their day to workload with particular attention on the management of suppliers on sample and stock orders and actively tracking inventory in to ensure timely delivery

Although these will be your main responsibilities, the nature of working in an exciting and growing startup means that you will be exposed to many other aspects of the business including digital merchandising, photo shoots, press and events where a can-do attitude will be a must.

  • You must have the right to work in the UK and don't require a visa.
  • You must have experience at Assistant Buyer level in own-brand sourcing. Homeware and Furniture category experience is preferable but not essential
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, negotiate successfully, and stay highly organised.
  • Proven ownership in Buyer’s absence, acting independently and showing strong initiative.
  • You are able to work independently and take the initiative when required
  • You are a strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • You have an eye for design and detail and strong commercial awareness
  • You have a passion to work in Homeware and to grow with a business, having the potential to take ownership of product categories as the team develops
  • Brings a calm, solutions-driven approach to workload in demanding environments
  • You are keen and able to pick up things outside your comfort area
  • You are able to work from our design studio & warehouse near Peterborough (45 mins from London kings Cross) on occasion.
