Job summary

A small family-run business near Dursley is seeking an Assistant Accounts Manager to manage customer interactions and assist with accounts payable, receivable, and payroll tasks. Ideal candidates should have experience using Sage Accounts and possess excellent organizational skills. This role offers flexible hours and an opportunity for additional hours during July and August 2026.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Sage Account and Payroll is essential.
  • Flexible hours are available for the right candidate.
  • Must drive as the office is not accessible via public transport.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a professional customer front dealing with calls, messages, and emails.
  • Raise sales orders and purchase orders using Sage 50 Accounts.
  • Handle accounts payable and receivable along with credit control.
  • Perform monthly payroll and bank reconciliation.

Overview

Role: Assistant Accounts Manager
Location: Dursley, Gloucestershire
Hours: 25 hours a week
Salary: 25,000 - 30,000 (NOT pro rate, you will get the above pay for reduced hours)
Days: 3x days a week and ideally Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but we are flexible
Must Drive as the office is not accessible via public transport
This is a small business with a family feel that has a fantastic opportunity (hours to suit) which will be located at our new offices in Upper Wick, Dursley and to work within a compact and friendly office environment.
You will be assisting the Finance Director and if you want more hours, additional hours are available during July and August 2026.
This role will suit someone who is looking for flexible hours.

Hours of working are flexible to suit the right person and salary will be negotiable depending on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a professional customer front dealing with telephone calls, messages, emails from both internal and external contacts
  • Raising sales orders/purchase orders using Sage 50 Accounts
  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Credit Control
  • VAT and Domestic Reverse Charge VAT
  • Sub-Contractors CIS
  • Full accounts and bookkeeping to trial balance
  • Monthly payroll
  • Bank Reconciliation
  • Management accounts
  • Dealing with warranty calls
  • Asset register
  • Renewals of insurances across the business
  • Assistance with the project managers as required
  • Collating information for O&M Manuals
  • General office duties
  • Any other duties as and when required to carry out your job
