Overview

Assistant Accountant

Reporting to: Management Accountant

Location: Leicester

Our client is a highly successful privately owned business, enjoying a period of sustained expansion is looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant.

Job Summary

To assist the Management Accountant to prepare financial information to allow the business to make well-informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working closely with the Management Accountant to ensure the timely and accurate production of the monthly / quarterly management accounts as well as assisting with Year End financial accounts
  • Oversee the expenses and ensuring compliance to policy. Analysis of spend, and highlight any areas for improvement
  • Credit card reconciliations
  • Monitor key expenditure areas
  • Reconcile nominal control accounts monthly, for the Management Accountant to review
  • Assist with Year End reconciliations
  • Produce P11D calculations and summaries
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns
  • Provide Ad hoc cover for Payroll processes
Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational and efficiency skills
  • Good working knowledge of computer software packages (e.g.Word, Excel)
  • Ambitious, with aspirations to progress and develop skills to manage a team in the future
  • Minimum AAT qualified, but ACCA or CIMA part-qualified is desirable
