Job Summary

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive, self-motivated individual to join the CTEC Oxford team in a primarily metrology-focused role. Responsibilities include equipment purchase (URS, validation plan), installation (IQ/OQ), validation (CSV), and overseeing servicing/calibration cycles (PM/PQ). Extensive experience working in a GxP environment and familiarity with QMS are required.

You will also perform lab-based research and development, including implementing in-house analytical methods. Proficiency with lab systems such as HPLC, UV-Vis, fluorimetry, and FTIR is essential. The role focuses on various chemistries, including acidified nitrite and nitric-oxide analysis. Knowledge in method development, validation, drafting SOPs, reports, test methods, study plans, and technical documents is necessary. Experience with metrology, asset management, and SIFT-Mass Spectrometry is a plus.

This position is based at our new offices and laboratory in Milton Park, Abingdon.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all equipment metrology for the Oxford department.
  • Handle processes for equipment purchase and installation.
  • Organize system servicing, including obtaining quotes and overseeing vendors.
  • Perform GxP analytical testing as per protocols and technical documents.
  • Research, develop, and troubleshoot lab systems such as HPLC, UV-Vis, fluorimetry, and FTIR.
  • Train new lab members.
  • Draft and review protocols, instructions, reports, and SOPs.
  • Utilize eQMS to conduct lab work in a GxP environment.
  • Interpret data, process results, and generate graphical outputs.

Qualifications/Education

  • Preferably MSc or PhD in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry; other subjects considered.

Travel Requirements

No regular travel; occasional visits to the GDC R&D site in North Wales may be required.

Working Conditions

  • Lab environment with exposure to chemicals, reagents, solvents, and electronic equipment. Manual handling may be required.
