Assembly Technician – Merthyr Tydfil, Wales – 35 Month Fixed Term Contract

Nicholas Howard Limited are delighted to be recruiting for a new and exciting role as an Assembly Technician.

Candidates must ensure they are eligible to apply for SC clearance before applying for this position .

About the role:

  • 0700 – 1700 Monday to Thursday Work Pattern (every Friday off).
  • Overtime paid when available.
  • Please note that for the first 3months you will be training in Northamptonshire all expenses paid.

Duties include:

  • Competent technician capable of electrical and mechanical assembly and integration of complex systems working from drawings and engineering instruction.
  • Competent and safe use of all hand and air tools. Use of Jigs, fixtures and measuring tools on precision assemblies.
  • Working with support from engineering group a methodical and precise approach to ensure successful completion of production tasks on high value hardware.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Vehicle Assembly Technician, armoured vehicle/Aircraft Assembly Technician or similar role.
  • Ability to complete set ups and perform quality and performance testing.
  • Ability to work from written instructions with limited supervision.
  • Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment with high accuracy.
  • Ability to liaise with the test support, engineering and Quality functions.
  • Attention to detail and ability to self-inspect work to ensure quality defects are mitigated.
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Understanding of “clean as you go” / 6S / FOD / Tool control programs mandatory.
  • Experienced with quality inspection points and process documentation.
  • A very high level of health and safety awareness.
  • Must be able to take direction well and is a strong team player.
  • Extreme attention to detail and continual pursuit of perfection.
