Aspiring Child Therapist - SEMH School (Graduate Opportunity - Canterbury)

Are you a recent graduate looking to build hands‑on experience supporting children with mental health and emotional needs?

Would you like to work in a specialist environment alongside trained therapists, counsellors and psychologists?

An outstanding SEMH specialist school in Canterbury is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Aspiring Child Therapist to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. This is an ideal opportunity for a graduate looking to gain invaluable experience before pursuing a career in child psychology, counselling, psychotherapy, mental health nursing or education.

We are particularly keen to hear from graduates in: Psychology, Counselling, Childhood Studies, Criminology, Sociology, Social Work or related subjects.

You will be working closely with students who require emotional regulation support, mentoring, behaviour guidance and 1:1 or small group interventions. You will also have the opportunity to learn from and shadow on‑site therapists and psychologists, gaining first‑hand experience in a therapeutic educational setting.

Role details

  • Full-time (Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm)
  • Canterbury
  • 85 - 95 per day
