Are you a registered Art, Drama, or Music Therapist with a passion for using creative expression to support older people through complex emotional and psychological challenges?

We are looking for a dedicated Art, Drama, or Music Therapist to join our small, vibrant, and highly creative team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.

This role involves the provision and development of specialised art, drama, music therapy, and psychological services for patients on Ruby ward, with a particular emphasis on later life issues, including Dementia.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Assessing clients with complex and high-risk needs for suitability for individual and group art, drama, or music therapy.
  2. Facilitating flexible and sensitive treatment programs that involve clients in group and one-to-one work using various modalities associated with their discipline (art therapy, music therapy, dramatherapy).
  3. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan, implement, and evaluate treatment, including providing assessment and care evaluation.
  4. Providing specialist advice and clinical supervision to other professionals, colleagues, or trainees where appropriate.
  5. Demonstrating commitment to continuing professional development.
  6. Designing and establishing a specialist clinical arts therapy service for clients, working independently.

Art, Drama, & Music Therapists perform controlled sessions using arts-based activities to observe and explore behaviors, attitudes, and emotions of individuals experiencing physical, psychological, emotional, or mental health issues.

The post reports to the Art, Drama, Music Therapy Inpatient Lead (or a designated deputy) and involves providing and developing specialised arts therapies across older adult acute settings in Kent and Medway, with an emphasis on later life issues, including Dementia.

Key duties include:

  • Providing art, drama, and music therapy to the patient group as required.
  • Communicating effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintaining appropriate record keeping and information sharing.
  • Responding to risk and safeguarding concerns.
  • Adhering to HCPC guidance and maintaining professional conduct.
