Job description

Following the release of ARRS GP funding we are looking for a newly qualified GP (within 2 years) to join Wimbledon Village Surgery working up to 6 sessions per week. Start date for this role will be from 1st January 2026.

About the vacancy:

6 sessions per week

6 weeks holiday and 1 week study leave (pro rata)

Daily GP lunchtime catchup

Regular sessions of working as the Triage GP, using AccuRX Total triage

Main duties of the job

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the PCN GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • Engage individuals as active partners in their treatment and support.
  • To support onward referral to secondary and specialist services where indicated.
  • To develop and maintain close relationships with the surgery teams.
  • Maintain patient records.
  • Undertaking patient consultations and physical examinations.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Providing general pre- and post-operative care
  • Monitoring and administering medication.
  • Assessing and planning treatment requirements.
  • Liaising daily with staff including other doctors, non‑medical management staff and healthcare professionals.
  • Promoting counselling and health education.
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities
About us

About us

We are an exceptionally friendly and supportive practice with high rates of staff retention. Our patient list size is circa 13500 and we employ 30 personnel.

The practice team is made up of five Partners, three Salaried GPs, one ARRS GP, two Retainer GPs, two practice nurses, 2 HCAs, 1 GPA, management team and admin staff. We are a training practice and regularly have a Registrar and medical students.

Wimbledon Village Surgery is a purpose‑built medical centre in the heart of the community of Wimbledon Village and situated close to Wimbledon Common and the Wimbledon tennis club. Onsite parking is available

We have a good CQC rating and are part of North West Merton PCN and enjoy working closely with them in our locality. We have a PCN Pharmacy team, Social Prescribers, Physiotherapists and a Mental Health Practitioner
