Job summary

A Peak District based architectural practice is seeking a talented Part 3 qualified Architect to support increasing workloads. The ideal candidate will have experience working on historic buildings or conservation projects, be proficient in AutoCAD and skilled in additional design software. Opportunities to work on diverse projects, from historic buildings to municipal designs, are available. This role offers a negotiable salary based on skills and experience.

Qualifications

  • Sound knowledge of UK Building Regulations and Planning Policy.
  • Experience with all RIBA Plan of Work stages.

Responsibilities

  • Support the growing workload within the practice.

Job description

Bench Architects is a Peak District based architectural practice who offer a rare combination of years of experience conserving historic buildings and the ability to create award-winning, contemporary designs including a 2024 Civic Trust Conservation Award.

We are seeking a talented Part 3 qualified Architect for an immediate start to support an increasing workload within our busy practice. Previous experience of working on historic buildings or conservation projects is desirable.

We are looking for someone who will be committed to the practice, to help the practice continue to grow by providing excellent architectural services to our strong client base.

The position will require the candidate to work under Associate/Directors on larger projects but also be able to run smaller jobs independently and communicate with all stakeholders within each project.

You will be able to work on a diverse range of projects, which include listed historic buildings, country houses and churches through to municipal and public buildings.

The successful applicant should:

  • RIBA part III qualified; (We would consider applications from experienced Part II’s - if excellent working knowledge of Conservation / Historical Buildings repair is demonstrated).
  • Be proficient in AutoCAD. Additional skills such as 3D modelling and rendering are an advantage. Proficiency in SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator are also essential.
  • Have good construction technical detailing skills.
  • Have sound knowledge of UK Building Regulations Approved Documents & Planning Policy and Legislation.
  • Have good experience of all RIBA Plan of Work stages.
  • Be self-motivated, organised and an enthusiastic team player.
  • Live within a commutable distance and hold a valid UK driving licence.
  • Be a UK resident or hold an appropriate work permit.

Salary is negotiable depending on skills and experience.
