A leading conservation organization is seeking an experienced Archaeologist to join their South West team. In this hybrid role, you will provide archaeological consultancy, mentor teams, and champion the importance of the historic environment for sustainability. Key qualifications include strong knowledge in archaeological care and project management, along with excellent communication skills. The position offers a comprehensive package, including flexible working and substantial benefits.
Hybrid work in Tisbury SP | United Kingdom
We're looking for an experienced Archaeologist to join us in the National Trust's South West region. You'll be helping the Trust to respond to the climate and nature crisis at some of the UK's most special places as well as supporting our ambition to ensure that the historic environment is relevant and accessible for everyone, for ever.
Working in the Trust's South West region, with a focus on our locations across Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire, you'll be part of a team of talented, passionate, and creative people. You'll also be part of our wider national archaeological cohort, showing the value of the historic environment for a sustainable future for everyone.
You will be part of the region's internal consultancy, which provides specialist support and skills to our properties and projects. You'll be within a multi-disciplinary team of experts working alongside project managers, building surveyors, ecologists and other specialists to enable projects that support our twin purposes of caring for the nation's nature, beauty and history and making these accessible to all.
Your focus will be on our locations across Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire but will also be a part of the Trust's wider regional and national network of archaeologists: a great repository of skills and experience. Your contractual base will be our Tisbury Hub (Wiltshire, SP3 6LW) but we support hybrid working with a mix of office, home and on-site working, and are happy to explore arrangements that strike the right balance for your and the trust.
The role will involve working on properties and projects across the South West so you will need to be able to travel for site visits and meetings, as well as occasional nationwide travel for project and programme meetings.
A leader for conservation excellence, inclusivity, and the response to the nature and climate crisis, taking a proactive approach in using the historic environment as a means to enable and deliver positive changes for nature and the climate.
The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever' at its heart. We're working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It's important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we're for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
Equal Opportunities: The National Trust is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
