Are you passionate about teachingbabies,childrenand adults to swim? Are you looking for a new opportunity to contribute towards the development of a Learn to Swim programme? The University of Nottingham has2 new part- time-rolesavailable to support with the delivery and administration of the Aquatics programme, focused around the Learn to Swim programme.

Our Learn to Swim programme is available for all ages and abilities from 6 weeks to adults; delivering group lessonsfor Early years, Juniors and Adults, 1-2-1/Private Bubble lessons and aSchoolHoliday programme.

Roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a first-class standard of teaching, teaching for a minimum of 50% of your hours per week, to a range of ages and abilities.
  • Supporting the Aquatics Officer in co-ordinating high- quality and diverse programme, including tasks such as:
    • arranging staffing for the delivery of the lessons
    • monitoring the movements, numbers and assessments of the swimmers
    • co-ordinating the enrolment of current and new customers onto the programme
    • working with swim lesson software systems
    • responding to customer enquiries
    • supporting with the training and development of the Swim Teachers team and Front of House team
    • and providing customer communication updates and promotions.

Previousexperience of teaching swimming lessons and an understanding of the swim programme procedures isrequiredand experience withbookingsand customer communication is essential. An SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming Qualificationor equivalent isrequired.Understanding of bookings and customer communication is essential.Relevanttraining in relation to computer software programmes, teachingEarly Years lessons and National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and or National Rescue Swim Teacher and Coaches qualification will be provided to the role holder.

The ability to work flexibly and meet deadlines, excellent organisational and time management skills, proven communication, presentation and interpersonal skills,basic computer literacyskillsand the ability to work independently and as part of a teamare essential.

There are 2 part-time positions available.Position 1 is for 18 hours and position 2 is for 18.25 hours, whichwill include evenings and weekends. As there are 2 part-time roles available, there is theoptionto swap days of work if the other part-time person is interested. Flexibility with working hoursrequired;optiontoswap Saturday or Sunday shift with the other part-time personon flexible basis if both areagreeable.

Theprogramme runs 44 weeks of the year, sothere will be an opportunityduring children’sschool holiday periodsto swap your weekend shift for a day during the week if you wish.

There will also be the opportunity to set up acasualLevel 2-qualified swim teachers' contracttohave the flexibility topick up extra cover teaching hours or a regular teaching slot if interested. Hourly rate of pay £16.46 per hour plus holiday pay.Extra teaching hours are available during the children’s schoolholiday periods.

Thesepositions will be based at the David Ross Sports Village.

    • Fridays 9.00-15.30
    • Saturdays 8.00-14.30
  • Teaching hoursperweek:
    • Tuesdays 16.00-20.00
    • Fridays 9.00-12.00
    • Available to step in and cover on Saturdays

Post 2

  • Working hours – 18 hours per week:
    • Mondays 13.15-19.45
    • Thursday 12.45-19.15
    • Sundays 8.00-14.30
  • Teaching hours per week:
    • Mondays 15.30-19.30
    • Thursdays 16.00-19.00
    • Available to step in and cover on Sundays
