Job Purpose

As an Apprentice Light Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Mechanic, you will work alongside experienced technicians to learn how to inspect, service, and repair a wide range of light motor vehicles. This hands-on role combines practical workshop experience with structured training, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults in light vehicles.
  • Carry out routine vehicle servicing and maintenance under supervision.
  • Learn to use diagnostic equipment and tools safely and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
  • Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Attend off-the-job training sessions as part of the apprenticeship programme.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and contribute to a positive working environment.
What You’ll Learn

Working Hours

40 hours, 8.30am to 5pm

  • Basic understanding of maths, English, and science (GCSEs or equivalent preferred).
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
  • Commitment to completing the full apprenticeship programme.

Desirable

  • Previous work experience or studies in a related field (e.g., motor vehicle studies).
  • A full UK driving licence or working towards obtaining one (age permitting).

Required Qualities

Committed with a desire to learn.

Required Qualifications

GCSE maths and English grade 4 of above (or equivalent, i.e. level 2 functional skills).

Adults age 19+ are no longer required to evidence maths and English qualifications, however it is still desirable.
