Overview

Would you like to join our exciting community team at a time of transformational change? The Middlesbrough Community Mental Health team is at the forefront of community transformation. We are looking for a dynamic Highly Specialist Applied Psychologist to provide leadership and clinical skills as part of Community Transformation. The post holder will work across the Treatment and Intervention Team and The Community Hub delivering effective, safe and compassionate care.

We welcome applications from staff who are currently coming to the end of their training in Clinical or counselling psychology that on successful completion will achieve the required qualification and registration with HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist. Trainee counselling psychologists are eligible to apply for and to be shortlisted for interview and to be offered qualified posts when they are in their 3rd year of the doctoral training and have the following confirmed as completed by the university.

Note: This information may be requested prior to interview:

  • a. All clinical competencies.
  • b. 80% of the 450 supervised clinical practice hours (360 hours)

Trainee clinical psychologists are eligible to apply for and to be shortlisted for interview and to be offered qualified posts when they are in their third year of training, as they will have completed their core clinical competencies by this stage of the course.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and clinical skills as part of Community Transformation.
  • Work across the Treatment and Intervention Team and the Community Hub delivering effective, safe and compassionate care.
  • Support leadership roles within the Trust and align with leadership profiles for each psychology band.
  • Contribute to responsive, person-centred mental health services for the region.
Qualifications and eligibility
  • Professionally registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist or eligible for registration on completion (as per banding and job description).
  • Banding options depend on experience: Band 7, Band 7-8a developmental, or Band 8a.
  • If recruited to a Band 7 post, this will be a developmental post with progression to an 8a banding upon meeting criteria within the 8a job description.
  • Trainee applicants: eligible to apply if in the final year of training with confirmed completed competencies as described above.
