Job description

As an Application Engineer (AE), you will be responsible to enable customers through technical implementation, collaborate with sales and marketing to deliver optimized solutions, and drive adoption of Omron’s automation technologies across diverse manufacturing environments.

You serve as a technical authority for controller products, engaging customers alongside sales teams and partners. Responsibilities include consulting on applications, guiding project implementation, and developing tailored solution proposals to meet customer needs.

Technical Enablement
  1. Develop PLC solutions for a variety of industrial applications.
  2. Provide training for industrial partners and certain end users.
  3. Provide knowledgeable and diligent technical support internally & externally.
  4. Drive implementation projects with our industrial customers and partners.
  5. Provide basic HW and SW troubleshooting during investigations and resolutions of problems.
  6. Develop and review systems solutions, technical bid responses and presentations.
  7. Work across departments to ensure satisfaction and timely resolution of issues.
  8. Visit on-site facilities and operations to enable solution integration and issue resolution.
  9. Draft out requirements specifications for projects within their area of expertise.
  10. Engage external vendors to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  11. Coordinate with internal customers to define project scope and deliverables.
  12. Develop innovative proof‑of‑concept or prototypes at an advanced level using Omron products.
  13. Create and organize documentation (e.g. including quotations, design drawings, schedules) through knowledge management system.
  14. Architect testing processes through test plans and reports.
  15. Conduct Technical trainings for internal and external customers.
  16. Acquire new skills and knowledge of topics relevant to industrial automation.
Collaboration with Sales and Marketing
  1. Provide technical expertise to enable our sales team in winning deals and producing satisfied customers.
  2. Provide product and project presentations to help win deals and facilitate implementation.
  3. Provide technical presales proposals for complex selling situations with variety of industrial customers.
  4. Collaborate with sales and extended teams to map end‑user customer business, partner requirements and provide most optimized technical solutions.
  5. As a knowledge expert of our customer’s requirements – provide Marketing and Sales with insight into our competitors’ products, innovations and operations.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical program involving software or electronics or a combination of education and work experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience, ideally in controller applications
  • Proven technical problem solver who understands system architecture, hands‑on hardware and software capability.
  • Documented solid understanding of firmware, drivers, OS, Applications and their interaction that can cause system issues.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing automation systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of machine learning or AI would be beneficial.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 15% - 30% of the time.
