Job summary

A temporary staffing agency is seeking an Administrative Officer for the Home Office's Children and Secondary progression Unit in Liverpool. Overview

AO Children and Secondary progression Unit; Home Office

Location: Capital Building, Liverpool, L3 9PP
Hourly rate: £13.85 per hour
Working Days/Hours: 37 hours per week, Mon-Fri, 9 - 5 - flexibility
Contract: This is a temporary position for 6 months but due to be extended pending performance and business needs.

Brook Street in partnership with the Home Office has a fantastic opportunity to join their customer services group as an Administrative Officer in Children and Secondary progression Unit. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable exposure/experience working within the Public Sector.

Responsibilities
  • Case progression tasks such as triage, barrier removal, interview booking. Full training will be provided.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support including data entry, form processing, and maintaining accurate casework records.
  • Monitor shared inboxes and triage or escalate queries appropriately.
  • Prioritise tasks effectively and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality output.
  • Work in accordance with departmental policies, data protection requirements and confidentiality protocols, including immediate escalation of any potential data breaches.
  • Collating and analysing fairly complex information or data, submitting results in a written report.
Essential Skills & Criteria

  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Time management, including ensuring that you complete and record your allotted daily working hours accurately.
  • Organisation skills, including an ability to identify and prioritise urgent work.

  • Taking responsibility for effective personal and team delivery.
Clearance & Training
  • Clearance level: Basic DBS and CTC (to be applied for by Brook Street upon a successful application).
  • Training provided: Dependent on task, around 1 week training, buddy up until comfortable.
  • Additional clearance: If applicable, a period of 6 months or longer spent outside of the UK in the last 5 years will require an additional overseas police check; candidate to provide.
