Job description
Primary Function

Responsible for transporting patients, specimens, and equipment (including maintaining equipment and supplies). Provide anesthesia support throughout surgical services including but not limited to: Main OR, ASC OR and Labor and Delivery. Responsible for working under the direct supervision of Nursing and Anesthesia Departments. Observes all hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Transport patients between different hospital units, including, but not limited to the Pre-Op, OR, and PACU.
  • Clean and change lines on stretchers and beds prior to patient use between procedures using proper asepsis technique. Thoroughly cleanse anesthesia gas machine and ventilators, assure all gas machines and specialty carts are surface cleaned.
  • Deliver specimens and blood products to and from the laboratory as needed.
  • Check and change oxygen, carbon dioxide tanks and other gases regularly.
  • Assist with room turnover, mop floors, remove trash, clean furniture, and change anesthesia circuit.
  • Gather equipment and case carts for next case, distribute anesthesia supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with setting up the OR rooms for next case (preparing airway equipment, providing special equipment before, during, and after procedure).
  • Assist nursing and anesthesia personnel with various patient activities including positioning, turning and restraining.
  • Perform pre-surgery shave preps.
  • Restock a variety of supplies and warming cabinets. Check quantity of stock to ensure proper levels. Check that adequate supplies are stocked, clearly organized, labeled, and kept current.
  • Complies with customer service requirements.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  • Inspect each anesthetizing location to assure the presence of all designated equipment at the beginning of the shift, which includes specialty carts and trays.
  • Routinely check condition of equipment such as Blood Pressure cuffs, EKG cables, leads, oximeter probes, temperature cables, pressure infusers, etc.
  • Perform daily battery checks on battery-operated equipment.
  • Assure that the reusable equipment such as LMAs, blades, and handles are properly sterilized.
Job Qualifications and Specifications

A High School diploma is required. CPR certified required. This position requires a highly motivated and dependable individual.
