As an Airfield Support Assistant, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will play a key role in supporting the seamless operation of airfield activities at Middle Wallop Aerodrome. This is not your typical support role, you'll be at the heart of a dynamic aviation environment, ensuring critical operations run smoothly and efficiently. Day-to-day, you'll have the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- Perform FOD (Foreign Object Debris) sweeping, collection, and disposal on aircraft operating areas via scheduled services and as notified.
- Inspect airfield infrastructure, report faults, and manage replacement of temporary structures.
- Conduct ground maintenance reviews and log issues through the Vinci Helpdesk.
- Maintain airfield vehicles, including cleaning, refuelling, and completing monthly documentation.
- Provide occasional driving support for airfield services as required.
This role is full time, 40 hours per week, and is based on site at the Army Aviation Centre, Hampshire.
Requirements
- Proven experience in airfield operations with strong understanding of procedures.
- Competent in using Government Furnished Equipment (e.g., airfield vehicles, hangar floor sweeper, MAT tractor, FOD BOSS).
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) for fault logging and safety reporting.
- Wildlife control experience (desirable).
Qualifications
- Valid DVLA Category B driving licence with some driving experience.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain Airfield Access Permit, with no colour perception restrictions.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role.
