Overview
Fulfil the responsibilities and duties of Certifying Staff in accordance with Serco GMS policies and military regulatory policies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on Viking and other contract-related aircraft at RAF Syerston and 2 Flying Training School (FTS) locations/Volunteer Gliding Squadrons (VGSs)/detachments across the UK.
- Lead and participate in aircraft activities, including ground movement and preparation for transportation.
- Lead, manage, supervise, and control assigned maintenance teams.
- Optimise output to meet business needs and demonstrate commitment to Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement.
- Perform additional roles as required such as Aircraft Manager (Depth-level Maintenance), Team Leader (Mobile), Building Custodian, and Issue Centre Custodian.
- Experienced in a similar engineering background with a minimum of MOD Phase 2 technical training or suitable civilian training (civilian contractors only).
- Proven experience or potential to hold Certifying Staff responsibilities.
- Have experience in equivalent civilian industry or Armed Forces in a relevant trade group.
- Possess good fault diagnosis skills, demonstrating an understanding of aircraft systems.
- Technically competent.
- Hold full driving licence.
- Possess good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Be competent using IT.
- Ideally, have been previously employed within a Part 145 organisation.
- Ideally, have working knowledge of military or civilian aircraft maintenance documentation and publications.
- Be prepared to travel around the UK which may involve overnight stays and hold a full driving licence; be medically fit to work in an aircraft engineering environment, with manual handling and aircraft rigging and de-rigging (physically demanding).
