Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in aviation maintenance within a Part 145 organisation.
  • Initial Human Factors, EWIS and Fuel Tank Safety training.
  • Ability to use recognised aircraft documentation.
  • Practical experience in aircraft systems.

Position

Aircraft Mechanic (B1)

Reports to

Base Maintenance Manager

South Wales

Salary

£28,000 basic plus £6,000 shift premium per annum

Working Hours

Seasonal shift patterns from September to May with a 3 month shutdown in summer.

The Role

We are looking for a self-motivated Mechanic to join a busy base maintenance team. This position covers a broad range of maintenance activities across Airbus and Boeing aircraft, both scheduled and unscheduled. You will work under the direction of supervisors and engineers to ensure all work meets Part 145 requirements, company procedures and customer service agreements.

Safety and quality are central to this role. You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance tasks to the highest standards while following health and safety regulations. You will also contribute to defect rectification, repair, overhaul and modifications as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out aircraft maintenance tasks in line with customer requirements and approved documentation
  • Follow company procedures and Human Factors principles, using only approved, calibrated tools and equipment
  • Support engineers and technicians in the completion of maintenance tasks, escalating issues when necessary
  • Complete all paperwork and documentation accurately and on time
  • Inform supervisors of any issues affecting safety, productivity or progress
  • Correctly process and return unused materials to stores, or dispose of them in line with procedures
  • Ensure correct storage, blanking, labelling and protection of aircraft components and tooling
  • Maintain workplace cleanliness and implement FOD prevention practices
  • Suggest improvements to safety, efficiency and working practices
  • Assist with hangar upkeep and facility maintenance tasks as needed
  • Carry out additional duties as required by the business
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in aviation maintenance within a Part 145 organisation (including apprenticeship time)
  • Recognised aeronautical training (e.g. City & Guilds Level 3, BTEC Level 3, Aeronautical Apprenticeship or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above including Maths and English
  • Initial Human Factors, EWIS and Fuel Tank Safety training
  • Ability to use recognised aircraft documentation
  • Practical experience in aircraft systems including rigging, component replacement and modifications
Desirable
  • Basic structural repair knowledge
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
