Senior AI Governance Manager (Contract - SC Cleared)

Location: Glasgow
Rate: £650-£700 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract Length: 6 months
Security Clearance: SC Cleared (essential)

We are seeking a Senior AI Governance Manager to provide leadership and oversight for AI governance, data ethics, and regulatory compliance within a complex, regulated environment. This role will play a key part in ensuring AI technologies are developed and used responsibly, safely, and in line with organisational and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop AI governance frameworks, policies, and controls

  • Provide oversight of AI risk, data ethics, and regulatory compliance across AI-enabled services and platforms

  • Translate complex AI and technical concepts into clear, practical governance policies and guidance

  • Advise senior stakeholders on AI-related risks, controls, and decision-making

  • Work closely with technical, legal, risk, and policy teams to embed responsible AI practices

  • Support assurance, reporting, and governance forums related to AI adoption

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in AI governance, data ethics, or regulatory compliance

  • Strong understanding of AI technologies, associated risks, and emerging governance challenges

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to turn complex technical concepts into clear, actionable governance policies

  • Experience operating at a senior management level in large or regulated organisations

Nice to Have
  • Experience working in public sector or security-conscious environments

  • Familiarity with AI standards, frameworks, or regulatory guidance (e.g. responsible AI, model risk, algorithmic transparency)
