Job description
Overview

Job Description: Are you a university graduate with the aspiration, enthusiasm, and talent to help us pioneer sustainable aerospace for a safe and united world? Airbus seeks bright minds from around the globe to fill critical roles that will shape our future. The Airbus Global Graduate Programme offers a personalized, two-year experience designed to cultivate professional skills, business acumen, and technical abilities, with a strong emphasis on developing leadership potential from day one.

During the programme you will join a global graduate community for a dedicated development week each year, connect with peers and leaders, and work as part of a specific, impactful role. You will gain a unique perspective on Airbus and contribute to meaningful work in a key area of the business.

Role focus

You will join the team dedicated to Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Methods and Processes within the Airframe Engineering organization, developing inspection and sensing methods for aircraft structures. Inspection is essential for quality and safety, and it also influences product development timelines and manufacturing costs. The aim is to develop you to think of inspection as part of tests and manufacturing with built-in quality features, changing how structures are inspected.

You will work in a transnational team of professionals across physics disciplines used for inspection (optics, acoustics, electromagnetics, radiography), combining hardware and software competencies, including state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence.

What you will be doing
  • Leading the development of NDT/inspection solutions: sensing technology and associated processing algorithms
  • Designing and running tests to develop, validate and qualify inspection solutions in their application environment (structures tests and manufacturing emphasis)
  • Interacting with colleagues from aircraft programs to understand needs and translate them into technical work plans
  • Working at the intersection of structures tests, NDT and manufacturing to provide fit-for-purpose inspection solutions supporting future aircraft programs
  • Undergoing a two-rotation pathway to support growth into the role of Airframe Inspection & Sensing Methods Leader

Two rotational placements will support your development, during which you will:

  • Learn how structures tests are designed and implemented and how inspections integrate
  • Learn how inspections are executed and integrated in the production system

Throughout the two-year development programme you will progress toward the position of Airframe Inspection & Sensing Methods Leader.

What we are looking for
  • MSc degree in Physics, Mechanics, Aerospace or Applied Mathematics
  • Ability to prototype scientific software solutions with Python or Matlab
  • Competence in data processing / data science
  • Competence in physics simulation
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English
  • A desire to work in a collaborative team environment focused on driving future innovation
  • Self-awareness and a wish to be in the driving seat of your development

Please note: we encourage you to submit only one application to the Airbus Global Graduate Programme and to select the opportunity best aligned with your skills and experience.
