Job description

The Aerodrome Certification Officer supports Heathrow's compliance with national and international aviation regulations by assisting in certification activities and documentation management. The role involves coordinating with internal teams and external authorities to ensure safety, operational, and technical standards are consistently met. It also plays a key part in maintaining accurate records, tracking compliance, and supporting audit processes.

  • Support the certification process by preparing, reviewing, and maintaining compliance documentation, manuals, and procedures. Assist in coordinating internal and external audits, certification inspections, and site visits.
  • Monitor changes in aviation regulations and industry standards under the guidance of the Certification Manager.
  • Liaise with airside operations, engineering teams, and contractors on certification requirements for infrastructure and operational changes.
  • Act as an administrative point of contact for certification queries during the Certification Manager's absence.
  • Support multiple stakeholder engagement from Fuel to CAA by coordinating meetings, recording actions, and following up on deliverables. Monitor the closure of findings from inspections and audits.
  • Prepare draft reports, presentations, and briefings for meetings with regulatory authorities and industry groups.
  • 1‑2 years of experience in aviation, aerodrome operations, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of aerodrome certification, safety regulations, or ground handling standards (e.g., ICAO Annexe 14, CAA CAP 168).
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and document management systems.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
  • Awareness of CAA 139/2014 requirements and the EU Ground Handling Directive.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems (SMS) and compliance tracking tools.
  • Experience supporting audits or inspections.
