A leading healthcare provider in the UK is seeking an Advanced Specialist Biomedical Scientist (BMS) with a Diploma in Expert Practice in Histological Dissection. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of biomedical scientists and perform histological dissections across various sub-specialties. Key responsibilities include maintaining high-quality care in a complex laboratory environment, while occasionally traveling to other IPS sites. This role offers various employee benefits including a cycle-to-work scheme, childcare vouchers, and extensive wellbeing programs.
The IPS laboratory on the BRI site receives specimen samples ranging from category A to E. As an Advanced Specialist BMS with the Diploma in Expert Practice in Histological Dissection, you will work with other Biomedical scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants, as well as other members of the department's clinical team, dealing with a range of specimen types covering sub-specialist areas such as gastrointestinal, gynaecological, head and neck, osteoarticular and urology specimens. You will undertake the role of expert dissector in a range of Histopathology sub-specialities and will achieve competency in the dissection of category A, B and C specimens. Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a large acute teaching hospital, and the Histology workload is complex and specialist reflecting this. Bradford has a dissection laboratory which serves to support the Trust Consultant Histopathologists in dissection, with onward processing of specimens being prepared at the Airedale site laboratory. Whilst the role is based at the Bradford site, the successful candidate will be employed by Airedale NHS Foundation Trust as part of the joint venture arrangements. Occasional travel to other IPS sites will be required at times, in fulfilment of the role.
