A leading social services provider in Barnstaple is seeking an Advanced Social Worker to take a leadership role within the Children Looked After / Corporate Parenting team. The role involves managing complex cases, mentoring colleagues, and ensuring quality outcomes for children and young people in care. Candidates must have 3 years of post-qualifying experience and be registered with Social Work England. A valid UK driving license and knowledge of child protection legislation are essential. This position offers a hybrid work model with three days in the office per week.
Location: Barnstaple
Hours: Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm, Friday 9am-4pm (37 hours/week)
Pay Rate: Up to £42.00/hour (Umbrella, DOE)
Driving Required: Valid UK licence + access to a car
Hybrid Working: Minimum 3 days/week in office (essential)

We're currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Social Worker to join the Children Looked After / Corporate Parenting team in North & Mid Devon (Barnstaple). This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a leadership role within a high-performing team that's focused on delivering excellent outcomes for children and young people in care.
You will work closely with the Team Manager to oversee and support frontline practice, take on complex cases, and mentor less experienced colleagues-while maintaining a manageable caseload yourself to ensure quality work.
Hold a reduced caseload, focusing on complex assessments and casework
Mentor, supervise, and support other team members and students
Drive best practice and quality standards in casework
Participate in and support multi-agency working and court proceedings
Be a positive force for practice development and improvement
️ Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience
️ Registered with Social Work England
️ Valid UK driving licence and access to a car
️ Comfortable with a hybrid work model (minimum 3 days in-office per week - non-negotiable)
️ Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, theory, and practice
️ Excellent communication, recording, and planning skills
