Overview

Total Social are working with Wigan Council who are looking for an experienced locum Children's Advanced Practitioner for their Duty Service.

Duty Service Details

The Duty service in Wigan consists of 5 duty teams and a Duty Academy; you will be on Duty one week in five. Each team consists of a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, a Senior Social worker and 6 Social Workers. Families we work with in Duty require our expert assessment and intervention skills at the very first stage of assessment and support.

The nature of the work within the Duty Service can be described as fast paced. You will work on one of the 5 main Duty teams, given our 5 week Duty cycle this means that you will only be going on Duty 1 in every 5 weeks. The Duty teams in Wigan hold a varying complexity of cases, in our Duty service case transfer points include the Initial Child Protection Case Conference, the first CLA review, the first PLO meeting, the 3rd CIN meeting. The Duty service does not hold cases long term and following your assessment and intervention period the outcome of this will determine the best team for the family to step across to.

Qualifications

Qualifying candidates require at least three years’ post-qualifying experience in direct/permanent employment with an English local authority in children’s services.
