The Musculoskeletal Service Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin brings together partner organisations across the county, including; Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust, Shrewsbury & Telford Hospitals and the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, to provide quality care to patients with musculoskeletal concerns within the population of Shropshire. Main duties of the job

• To manage, assess and treat own highly specialist caseload of complex musculoskeletal patients in clinic as an autonomous practitioner within scope of the role.
• To triage and assess referrals into the service to determine acuity and urgency, and direct to the appropriate clinical team within the service.
• The post holder will work as a highly experienced autonomous practitioner to perform advanced assessment including requesting and interpretation of appropriate diagnostics for patients with diverse presentations.
• To use expert clinical reasoning to provide a diagnosis and then develop, deliver and adapt individualised treatment programmes for patients within a specialist clinical area.
• To have developed, through extensive experience and postgraduate training, the expert knowledge and specialist clinical skills to work in an advanced practice role.
• To lead in the development of own expert service introducing innovative change and improvements liaising with the AMD, CSM, assistant CSM and Therapies Lead to ensure a cohesive approach.
• To undertake research and audit projects as a regular part of the role and to critically evaluate current research and apply where appropriate to practice.

Person Specification

Training & Qualifications

• Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
• Evidence of highly specialist/expert clinical training in relevant areas to enable extended scope practice
• MSc or evidence of study at MSc level in Trauma and Orthopaedics
• Radiation Protection training (IRMER)
• Training in the interpretation of x-rays
• Registered with the Health Care Professions Council
• Injection therapy qualification and experience

Experience

• Evidence of extensive experience in relevant area of clinical practice
• Evidence of teaching / presentation experience
• Experience in audit
• Experience at Highly specialist level
• Recent NHS experience
• Evidence of working flexibly and effectively in a multidisciplinary team
• Supervisory experience and delegation

Knowledge & Skill

• Evidence of CPD maintained in a Portfolio including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the clinical field, extended scope and management aspects of role
• Clear understanding of the boundaries of the role
• Relevant evidence based practice
