Job description

We are looking to recruit a dynamic pharmacist to lead our Clinical Pharmacy Service in Acute and Emergency Medicine. You will head a dedicated team of Advanced Specialist Pharmacists, Foundation Pharmacists, Medicines Management Technicians and Assistants, and provide the best possible care across Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital sites.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the pharmacy service to the Acute Care Clinical Business Unit, covering ward‑based pharmacy services in Emergency Departments, Acute Medical Units, the Acute Medicine Rapid Assessment Unit, Short Stay Units and Frailty Emergency Assessment Units.
  • Collaborate with Advanced Clinical Lead Pharmacists in Respiratory/Gastroenterology and General Medicine to extend pharmacy services to the wider Unplanned (Medicine) Care Group.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimise medication safety, including reducing missed critical doses, improving service delivery and patient flow.
  • Work as an independent prescriber on in‑patient wards and/or in outpatient clinics.
  • Support the development of the clinical pharmacy workforce, including Medicines Management Technicians and Assistants.
  • Plan and deliver the operational delivery of clinical pharmacy services to Acute & Emergency Medicine, supporting the medicines optimisation agenda.
