Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Elmbridge Locality team based at Dakota in Weybridge. This hybrid role combines office and home working, with the aim for full-time staff to be in the office 2-3 days per week.

Job responsibilities

No two days are the same. The role requires professional experience assessing for major adaptations, specialised equipment, and completing moving and handling risk assessments. You will conduct holistic assessments of social care needs and plan support across a dedicated caseload, working closely with families, carers and care workers to support people from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of needs.

Additional details include regular supervision and informal support from the wider team. The role supports residents to live meaningful lives within the community, reflecting the core focus of occupational therapy.

About the team

Working in the Elmbridge Locality Team means being part of a close-knit, supportive, and collaborative environment. The team emphasises professional development, mentorship, and career advancement, and delivers statutory social work services to adults in the community.

Shortlisting criteria
  • Professional qualification in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration
  • Substantial post-qualification experience in a social care, health or community-focused multidisciplinary setting
  • Ability to complete person-centred and proportionate OT assessments
  • Familiarity with moving and handling equipment (e.g., hoists, stand aids)
  • Knowledge of medical conditions and their impact on the individual, carer and family
  • Knowledge of the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act and their application to practice in social care
  • Experience providing professional supervision and handling complex cases
Requirements
  • Valid UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel across a wide geographical area
  • Disclosure and Barring Service check (Enhanced DBS) for regulated activity; relevant safeguarding checks for children and adults
