Your Role

Civil Admin Officers assist with the creation and management of County Court claims, which involves accounting for court fees, handling correspondence from court users, and liaising with judges regarding listing and hearing of cases. You will also manage enquiries from service users via post, email, telephone, and face‑to‑face. Types of claims handled include possession, road traffic accidents, insolvency, credit card debt, loan debt and hire purchase debt. You will be assigned to teams to carry out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the court/tribunal system or provide support to other functions within HMCTS.

Your Skills and Experience

With a friendly and approachable manner, you will have excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills and a desire to deliver proactive and effective support to customers by phone and email. You will be skilled in organising your time, prioritising efficiently, able to multi‑task and adapt to using various software packages. You will enjoy working in a busy environment and helping court users navigate the justice system.

Further Details

These operational roles are customer facing and office based.

Standard full time hours are 37 hours per week. HMCTS welcomes part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing working patterns where they meet the demands of the role and business needs. All part‑time applications will be considered in accordance with the MoJ’s Flexible Working policy. The minimum part‑time hours would be 32 hours per week over 5 days.

Skilled Worker Visa

From 22 July 2025, the Government increased the salary threshold and skill level for Skilled Worker visas. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for sponsorship unless you have held a Skilled Worker visa continuously since before 22 July 2025.
