The Community Midwives team are seeking a highly motivated and supportive Administrative Assistant to join our busy service.

We work alongside the community midwives, operating within clearly defined policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines, to aid the smooth running of a busy community midwifery service reflecting high quality customer care in all that we do.

Responsibilities
  • Provides vital administrative support to the community midwifery service to ensure women are scheduled for their community antenatal and post-natal appointments at time critical intervals.
  • Handles high volumes of telecommunication, delivering excellent customer service and acting as the first point of contact for patients.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as data entry, record keeping, and accurate typing.
  • Multitasks and adapts quickly to meet changing service requirements.
  • Provides cross‑cover to the wider maternity services during times of need.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Excellent IT skills and experience working in a customer service or healthcare environment.
  • High levels of personal commitment to facilitate the delivery of a patient‑focused service.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
  • A friendly and conscientious outlook with the ability to liaise with all levels of staff and patients.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, accurate typing and the willingness to adapt and develop your skill set.
Working Hours & Shift Pattern

Flexibility is key as the post holder is required to work a range of shifts including short and long days – Monday to Sunday on a rota basis (including bank holidays). The post holder will also be expected to provide cross cover to the wider services within Maternity during times of need.
