Admin Apprentice - Diabetes and Endocrinology

We have an exciting opportunity for an Admin Apprentice to join our busy team and begin your career in the NHS.

The role of the post holder is to provide general administrative support to the Diabetes and Endocrinology team at YDH. This will include responsibility for filing, answering the phone, responding to emails, maintaining systems and databases, creating and maintaining documents, arranging appointments for Diabetes and Endocrinology patients, Typing Diabetes and Endocrinology letters to patients and GP's, dealing with enquiries from managers, staff and service users.

You will also be completing a level 3 NVQ Business administration qualification through Yeovil College, you will fully be supported in your learning and development and complete an educational pathway with the Yeovil College. https://www.yeovil.ac.uk/course/334559/business-administrator-level-3-advanced-apprenticeship-starting-between-august-2025-and-july-2026/

Main duties of the job

Deal with day-to-day correspondence, initiating appropriate responses to provide patients, staff and other parties with required information in a friendly and professional manner.Receive telephone calls, accepting messages on behalf of members of the specialty team, taking appropriate action where necessary.Liaise with appropriate personnel in the team to gather and co-ordinate patient information so this is accessible in a timely manner.Type all forms of clinical correspondence as dictated by clinical staff, by use of audio or copy typing. Produce copies for appropriate agencies, filing copies in correct sequence, ensuring follow-up arrangements are in place, listing outstanding investigations on the hospital database system.Process urgent referrals and arrange appropriate outpatient appointments.Participate in team and Trust meetings as requested.

Qualifications
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy and spoken English (minimum level 2 functional skills, or GCSE grade C/4 or above).
