Job summary

An actuarial services provider in the City of London is seeking a Qualified Actuary to support the Head of Reserving in delivering quarterly reserving and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong reserving knowledge, excellent data science skills, and experience managing a small team. Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with programming languages like Python are essential. This is a permanent role in a non-life actuarial team.

Qualifications

Job description

A fundamental role in the Actuarial team, responsible for supporting the Head of Reserving in delivering all aspects of quarterly reserving, which includes the quarterly reserving process, internal and external reporting, as well as inputs into where required, the relevant Finance processes, IFRS 17, and SII TPs (Solvency II Technical Provisions).

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Head of Reserving in delivering all aspects of quarterly reserving
  • Support the Head of Reserving to ensure compliance with all internal and external reporting requirements
  • Provide all relevant inputs from Reserving into the IFRS 17, SII TP and capital parameterisation actuarial processes, including supporting the derivation of the Reserve Risk parameters
  • Support Regulatory Actuarial Team in the development and validation of assumptions and processes for IFRS-17 and SII TP
Qualifications
  • Qualified Actuary (FIA, FFA or equivalent)
  • Obtained a relevant, numerate degree with a good overall grade
  • Expert reserving knowledge and sound commercial general insurance Lloyd’s/company market experience
  • Experience of managing a small team of analysts/students and prioritising others’ workloads
  • Attention to detail and excellent time management
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Data science skills and a proven track record of applying them effectively in an insurance setting
  • Excellent IT skills, in particular an advanced level of MS Excel, and experienced in SQL, Python or R with desire to continue to develop/manage a team working in Python
