We’re working with a progressive and growing accountancy practice in Manchester that’s looking to appoint an Accounts & Business Advisory Manager to play a key role in supporting owner‑managed businesses and developing the next generation of talent, in a newly created service line for the firm.

Role

As Accounts & Business Advisory Manager, you’ll manage a diverse client portfolio and act as a trusted adviser to SMEs, entrepreneurs, and growing businesses. This role blends technical excellence with commercial insight, offering genuine involvement in clients’ decision‑making processes and the chance to help shape the firm’s advisory offering.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of owner‑managed businesses and SME clients
  • Helping clients set up and maintain a robust and scalable finance function
  • Preparation and review of management accounts and board packs
  • Supporting clients with budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow planning
  • Providing ad hoc financial advisory support to clients’ management teams
  • Reviewing statutory accounts and ensuring high‑quality compliance output
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients, building long‑term trusted relationships
  • Setting up internal systems and processes to manage engagements efficiently and profitably
  • Playing a key role in the recruitment, development, and management of the team as the client base grows
  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members and future managers
  • Working closely with partners on strategic, advisory, and practice‑wide initiatives
About You
  • ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Strong background in UK accountancy practice
  • Experience delivering management accounts and advisory services
  • Commercially minded with confidence in client‑facing advisory conversations
  • Proven ability to manage people and improve processes
