Job description

We’re looking for a curious, analytical, and ambitious individual to join our Core Finance function and play a key role in our day-to-day finance operations. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone looking for their first finance role (or early in your career) with plenty of learning, variety, and cross-functional exposure along the way. You will be part of a high performing team and quickly gain a well-rounded view of how the company operates from within a function thatneeds to understand and interact with all aspects of the business.

You’ll report directly to our Management Accountant but collaborate with lots of different teams across Butternut. You’ll be set on a steep learning trajectory, gaining experience incore financial reporting, management information and process improvement.

In this role, you can expect to…

  • Support with weekly and period-end close processes.
  • Make sure our weekly and period-end reports land with the right people, right on time.
  • Gain a firm understanding of the drivers of our P&L, and utilise that to support decision-making across the business.
  • Use your analytical brain to dive into data and provide meaningful, clear commentary.
  • Get hands-on experience with all parts of the reporting process — from stock and payroll to journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and investor updates.
  • Be tasked with improving processes and supporting with our scaling efforts.
  • Own day-to-day finance tasks such as payments, expense claim management and bank reconciliations.
  • Support the wider Finance team with key projects and other ad-hoc tasks– for example: Audits, VAT returns and international expansion readiness.
A bit about you:
  • Graduate with an Accounting or similar degree.
  • Excel is your happy place — especially when it comes to building reports or digging into analysis.
  • You’re confident challenging the status quo when needed and you will flag if you see something you believe to be wrong.
  • You like to understand the 'why' behind any task assigned to you.
  • You’re proactive, organised, and bring a keen eye for detail to everything you do.
  • You're curious about AI and the impact it will have on Finance in the months and years to come - you're the type of person who will engage with the technology and try to apply it to improve your productivity.
  • Eager to study towards AAT/CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualification.
  • Accounting experience within the workplace (nice to have, but not a dealbreaker)
  • You’ve worked with SAP or SAP B1 (nice to have, but not a dealbreaker).
  • A love for all things dogs!

  • Initial call (30 minutes): Introductory chat with the Talent Team
  • Take home task: This will be sent to you via email and will be used to understand your technical skills.
  • Technicalinterview(60minutes):Remoteinterviewwhereyou’llbeaskedanumberofscenarioandcompetencybasedquestions.
  • Final interview (60 minutes) : In person interviews in our office in White City where we will want to understand how your personal values align with our business values.
  • This team works 3 days per week from our West London office (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday) and 2 days from home. This is non negotiable, so please only apply if you’re within a reasonable commute of London.
