Responsibilities
- Post and process payments efficiently while preparing weekly payment runs to ensure timely settlements across multiple entities.
- Handle daily bank postings and perform accurate bank reconciliations for various client accounts, maintaining robust financial controls.
- Manage the sales ledger by raising tenant invoices, allocating receipts promptly, issuing tenant statements, and overseeing credit control activities.
- Process credit card transactions and reconciliations diligently while reviewing and posting staff expenses in line with company policies.
- Undertake intercompany postings and reconciliations, ensuring that intercompany matrices are maintained accurately and month-end settlements are completed without discrepancies.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts by supporting accruals, prepayments, journal entries, profit & loss reviews, and balance sheet analysis.
- Contribute to VAT return preparation and submission by gathering relevant data and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Support service charge accounting by helping prepare budgets, apportionments, expenditure tracking reports, reconciliations, and comprehensive year-end packs for residents or tenants.
- Maintain the rent ledger by monitoring rent reviews or uplifts, indexation adjustments, lease schedules, deposits management, and arrears tracking.
- Provide cash flow support through weekly forecasting activities while assisting with year-end close procedures and responding to external audit requests with detailed schedules and reconciliations.
The Ideal Candidate
- Demonstrated experience in property or real estate accounting (residential or commercial), particularly involving service charge work which requires meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven double-entry bookkeeping skills supported by hands-on experience in performing bank reconciliations as well as credit card and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Familiarity with sales ledger management including raising invoices for tenants, allocating receipts efficiently, issuing statements regularly, and conducting effective credit control measures.
- Experience processing payments accurately alongside preparing weekly payment runs that adhere strictly to deadlines set by the finance department.
- Ability to handle intercompany postings confidently while maintaining precise intercompany matrices; adept at completing month-end settlements without error.
- Competence in assisting with monthly management account preparation—covering accruals calculation; prepayment adjustments; journal entry creation; profit & loss statement review; balance sheet analysis—all under supervision from senior finance colleagues.
- Understanding of VAT return preparation requirements coupled with practical involvement in compiling necessary documentation for timely submissions.
- Knowledge of service charge accounting processes such as budget preparation; apportionment calculations; expenditure tracking; reconciliation exercises; assembling comprehensive year-end packs for residents/tenants.
