Nido is on an exciting journey to become Europe’s leading Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) provider. Our story began with a vision to create exceptional living spaces that bring together quality, community, and design — a vision that continues to guide our growth today. With 12,000 beds across 32 properties in the Iberian Peninsula and our new European headquarters in Madrid, we’re shaping the future of how students live, connect, and thrive.

In 2025, we welcomed Livensa Living into the Nido family, creating one of Europe’s largest and most dynamic living platforms. Together, we’re expanding into new markets like Germany and Italy, bringing our passion for design, community, and exceptional resident experiences to even more people across Europe.

Purpose of the role

As Nido & Livensa Living strengthens its operations across Europe, we are seeking a part-time Accountant (2–3 days per week) to support the financial management of our UK entities. Based in London, this role ensures the delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant accounting records while supporting routine financial processes and statutory obligations. The Accountant will play a key role in maintaining strong financial controls, assisting with periodic closings, and providing clear and reliable financial information to management, auditors, and external stakeholders.

Key tasks & responsibilities
  • Record day-to-day financial transactions for UK entities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank/cash reconciliations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules, ensuring accuracy of entries and account balances.
  • Support monthly and quarterly closing activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and ad-hoc financial analysis.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting UK VAT returns and responding to HMRC or regulatory enquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and internal finance policies; assist in preparing statutory accounts in coordination with external accountants or auditors.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external service providers, including tax advisors, auditors, and banking partners.
  • Support continuous improvement of financial processes, documentation, and reporting workflows.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant bookkeeping or accounting experience in Luxembourg or an international environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP; familiarity with IFRS is considered an asset.
  • Solid understanding of UK VAT rules, tax compliance, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus) and MS Office (strong Excel skills essential).
  • Commercially minded and pragmatic, with strong business acumen and the ability to balance risk with operational goals.
  • Confident communicator, comfortable working with investors and senior stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish, German or Italian language skills are strongly advantageous.
Key personal skills & traits
  • Hands-On: Willing to roll up your sleeves to resolve issues and drive outcomes.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, with strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Collaborative Partner: Effective at managing cross-functional teams and third-party stakeholders.
  • Solution-driven: Focuses on actionable outcomes over obstacles, with asset performance and protection as the top priority.
