Are you ready to make a real impact in local government finance? We're looking for an experienced Capital Accountant to join our Strategic Finance team. This is your chance to take ownership of a key technical area, ensuring accurate capital accounting and strong financial governance. You'll safeguard the integrity of the Council's financial reporting, ensuring full compliance with accounting standards, and provide expert advice on complex capital accounting issues for a balance sheet with fixed assets valued at £1.5 billion covering a diverse portfolio of land, buildings, and infrastructure. You'll be at the heart of our capital accounting and technical finance work. You'll lead on all aspects of capital accounting - maintaining key registers, managing asset valuations, delivering the capital elements of the Statement of Accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You'll handle complex transactions, oversee the capital closedown process, and provide expert technical advice to support accurate reporting and audit assurance.

Must be CCAB or CIMA qualified with substantial post-qualification experience in a finance environment.
