Job description
Position Overview

Appointment of Academic Partnership Tutor (Grade G) and Senior Academic Partnership Tutor (Grade H) within the Directorate of External Collaborations at BUC Buckinghamshire New University. Location: High Wycombe, with UK and international travel as required.

Contract: Permanent, Hours per week: 37. Salary Range: £38,784‑£43,482 for Tutors (Grade G) or £44,746‑£56,535 for Senior Tutors (Grade H). Closing Date: 04 January 2026.

These roles support high‑quality programme delivery across a growing portfolio of partner institutions in Creative Arts, Aviation Management, Computer Science, Health & Social Sciences and Business Management. Senior Tutors will additionally provide line management and strategic quality leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Academic Year Preparation & Oversight – ensure all arrangements (Course Delivery Schedules, Programme Handbooks, Operations Manuals) are in place before each session.
  • Partner Relationship Management – act as primary liaison, resolve issues and communicate within the Partnership Team.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance – monitor delivery, moderation and assessment to meet BNU standards.
  • Partner Campus Engagement – undertake a minimum of 12 visits annually, attend committee meetings and complete visit reports.
  • Assessment & External Examiner Coordination – attend assessment boards and liaise to appoint external examiners.
  • Student Experience & Monitoring – conduct commitment checks, monitor performance, advise on remedial actions.
  • Staff Development & Vetting – identify needs, assist with induction and vet new teaching staff.
  • Annual Monitoring & Reporting – lead monitoring reports, risk assessments and contribute to UPB meetings and graduation ceremonies.
  • Teaching Responsibilities – provide and support teaching materials and student engagement during partner visits.
  • Line Management (Senior Tutors only) – oversee staff, monitor performance and implement improvements.
  • Active Researcher – deliver high‑quality research, supervise students, contribute to peer review and professional bodies.
  • Continuous Improvement – adopt best practice, engage in CPD and propose change to processes.
  • Compliance – adhere to legislative requirements (Data Protection, GDPR, Health & Safety, Equality and Diversity).
Qualifications & Experience
  • First degree – mandatory.
  • Postgraduate qualification – mandatory.
  • Teaching and Learning Qualification (PG Cert HE, FHEA or equivalent) – mandatory.
  • Experience delivering excellent customer service and managing partnerships.
  • Experience as an active researcher with scholarly output.
  • Strong knowledge of UK higher education systems and processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools and digital learning platforms.
  • Excellent written, oral and report‑writing skills.
  • Organisational, planning and time‑management skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, travel within the UK and overseas, and potentially work across different sites.
