Job summary

A governmental agency in the UK is seeking a Data Protection Support Officer to assist in managing information assets according to data protection laws. Qualifications

Job description

The post-holder will undertake activities to support and provide cover for MMOs Data Protection Manager (DPM) to ensure MMOs information assets are managed in accordance with the Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018 General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and Law Enforcement Directive (LED) as well as wider organisational and Departmental policies for data protection record and information management and security assurance.

The post holder will :

• Provide specialist data protection knowledge within the MMO.
• Support MMOs DPM MMO colleagues stakeholders SRO and Information Asset Owners (Directors) in identifying documenting and managing / mitigating information risks.
• Cover for the SEO Data Protection Manager when needed engaging with Senior Stakeholders.
• Use own expertise to develop guidance documents on data protection including DP policies processes training and communications.
• Develop MMOs DP reporting and escalation mechanisms for DP-related issues including data protection breaches.
• Liaise with subject matter experts across Defra Group including the G6 Data Protection Officer and be able to make own judgement on how MMOs DP should align and deviate.
• Provide additional support to records management and information security assurance across MMO.

Travel may be required to MMOs Head Office in Newcastle upon Tyne for occasional team meetings / face‑to‑face contact.
