Overview

At Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the Workforce Development and Student Support Team supports pre and post registration students and learners across a range of non-medical professions, runs the trust wide Preceptorship programme for newly qualified practitioners and delivers clinical skills training. We are recruiting to the position of Lead Nurse/Practitioner for Workforce Development for 12 months to cover maternity leave. The role is for a nurse, midwife or allied health professional to lead a team of Practice Educators and Pastoral Support Workers to deliver high quality evidence-based learning and development opportunities throughout the trust.

We are looking for an individual who is motivated, enthusiastic and passionate about educating the current and future clinical workforce.

Responsibilities
  • Lead across professional boundaries to ensure staff and learners receive high quality clinical training experiences from care certificate for non-registered staff, clinical skills acquisition through to preceptorship delivery according to NHS England standards and frameworks for nursing, midwifery and AHPs.
  • Lead on the implementation of Prepare to Care and the Care Certificate for Care Support Workers.
  • Lead on the ongoing development, maintenance and monitoring of a quality preceptorship package for newly qualified practitioners, based upon NHS England Standards.
  • Lead on the delivery of clinical induction through Prepare to Nurse for newly qualified nurses.
  • Lead on the development, maintenance and monitoring of quality assured and evidence-based clinical skills training for all non-medical staff, including various methods of delivery, within the trust ensuring that the requirements of NMC and HCPC are adhered to and supporting the Trusts strategic objectives and operational plans promoting a strong culture of learning and development.
  • Provide leadership and management for pastoral support workers and practice educators and co-chair the Trustwide Practice Educator forum.
Working Arrangements

Our department primarily operates Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm with occasional weekend work to support attendance at local university and college open days. This post is offered at 30 hours per week.
